The Global Equity Organization (GEO) awards recognise global companies who lead the way in employee equity. Some of our Eximia team joined the celebrations in Edinburgh for a winning evening.
What makes an award-winning campaign?
We worked with Anglo American on their launch of MyShare, a share plan implemented in 15 countries and multiple languages, to employees who were primarily miners. To engage employees with this new offering, our client needed a clear and detailed communications strategy.
With our expertise in share plans and reward, we successfully created and rolled out a bespoke seven-stage campaign using a wide variety of offline and online communication channels.
Our main challenge was that most of Anglo American’s employees are offline, with very limited access to the internet. To empower them to make informed decisions about the plan, we spent time training local reward managers to champion the plan to their local populations. This was supported with printed resources including brochures, posters and letters, and emails for online users.
We also had to address concerns about economic uncertainty at the time of the plan launch, and low levels of understanding about share ownership among many of the eligible employees. We needed to educate them and create a buzz!
Results that speak
We successfully guided eligible employees as they started their shareholder journey. We were delighted that over 35% of a largely offline population opted to invest their own money in the Purchase and Matching Share Plan after receiving £1,000 worth of Free Shares. This was recognised by the GEO award judges, who were particularly impressed by the early engagement from champions and managers, as well as the campaign’s thorough attention to detail and inclusiveness.
Clear, consistent and regular messaging was key for this campaign. We equipped Anglo American’s employees with enough knowledge and confidence to make decisions that suited their own personal circumstances and best supported their financial wellbeing.
